Frequently Asked Questions

What is a financial coach?

A financial coach helps you create goals and stick with them so you’re not just dreaming about financial peace—you’re living it. Financial coaching is different from any other finance-related field. Certified Public Accountants help you with your taxes. Financial Advisors manage the wealth you already have. Financial Coaches, like us, help you build wealth and work with you to create a personalized start-to-finish plan for your money. We also help keep you motivated and on track, keeping you out of the pitfalls of managing money and building wealth.

Financial coaches often work with their clients over several sessions/months—focusing on many things from fine-tuning your budget to discovering your long-term goals and even working through a real financial crisis, just to name a few. No matter the situation, financial coaches sit with you one-on-one in person or in online sessions to help you overcome the challenges that are holding you back in your finances and in building wealth.

When should I work with a financial coach?

That’s the great thing about a financial coach—I can help you in any situation! Maybe you’re up to your eyeballs in student loans or credit card debt, or you’re having money fights with your spouse. Or perhaps you have big money goals—like saving to buy a house or setting yourself up for retirement—but have no plan to achieve them. Regardless, I can meet you where you’re at and steer you in the right direction so that you can win with your money.

How much does a financial coach cost?

I am an independent coach. For your first session, I offer a free 1-hour consultation. The fee going forward, can vary depending on your preferences and the number of times we meet. If, after your free consultation, you decide to take advantage of my services, we will decide on a plan that best suits you and your situation and set up regularly scheduled coaching sessions.

Will you set up a payment plan for my coaching fee?

No—mainly because I don’t want to become your creditor. I am working to get you out of debt, not deeper in it. Instead, I ask that you always pay me in full, upfront (no credit cards). And remember, your first 1-hour consultation is completely free, no catches.

How do I pay for coaching when I’m broke?

Coaching is meant to put money back in your pocket, not take it out. It’s the best way to help you develop the right money habits and put an end to your money problems. Some people will ask if they can afford it, but maybe you should ask yourself, can I afford to not get help from a coach.

If you’re trying to get out of debt, other options like credit counseling and bankruptcy only manage the symptoms. They don’t change the habits that got you there in the first place. And the cost of bankruptcy is more than a financial burden—it’s a stain on your record. The money you will save in the long run through coaching will be more than you invest in coaching today.

There’s no better way to establish good money habits than by having a personal money mentor who understands your situation. And as a side note: You should never be ashamed of your financial struggles when working with a coach. I am here to encourage you. I am a trained, certified professional who works with people from all walks of life and in all income ranges. Whatever you’re going through, it’s okay, we will get you through it.

Do I work for Dave Ramsey?

No, I am an independent business owner. However, I am a professional certified financial coach who has been trained extensively by Ramsey Solutions. I do base my financial advice on Ramsey's principles and sound financial advise, there's no get rich quick schemes here.

How do I get my spouse on board?

Marriage is not “me”—it’s “we.” Working on your finances together is the only way to succeed when it comes to money. Not only that, many couples find that talking about money with a coach reduces stress in their marriage. It’s so important, that I’ve made it one of my core teachings. If you’re having difficulty getting your spouse on board, let me know and we will work through it.

How do I prepare for my coaching session?

The great part about working with a financial coach is that I will guide you through every step of the process. During your first consultation, I will ask questions to get to know you—your goals, your dreams, your past, your pain points, your financial situation, etc. So be sure to have your answers & info. ready. By the way you should never be ashamed of your financial struggles when working with a coach. There will be no shaming or embarrassment just good advise, hope and motivation.
